Dear Parent,
There's an email going around Georgia lately which
describes exactly how hot it has been here. It states
that "the birds have to use potholders to get the
worms out of their holes." That's pretty accurate. In
heat
like this, it is important to keep cool. At ScreamFree,
we think that's important no matter what the
thermometer says. Read this week's article to see
why.
| Hot Enough For Ya? |

By Hal Runkel
You've may have seen "The Far Side" cartoon
entitled, "Nerds in Hell." It depicts a long line of
eternally damned souls waiting for, well, eternity.
There we find a plaid shirt-wearing, broken-glasses-
donning nerd elbowing the next hellion in line, trying to
make small talk. He snorts, "Hot enough for ya?"
Well, at the risk of revealing my true nerdiness, it really
is hot out there. The entire country is enveloped in a
ridiculously scorching heat wave. Unless you're one of
the fortunate to live on the California coast, then you
know what I'm talking about. And unfortunately, many
of us are also experiencing some friction and heat
inside our homes as well. Are you struggling to keep
your "cool" even indoors? Well, it's precisely when
things get hot, whether outside in the sun or inside in
our families, that we most need to keep our cool. And
that's what ScreamFree is all about:

| Ask Hal: Squabbling Over Siblings |
 |
|
Dear Hal,
Help! My husband and I can't agree on how far apart to
space our children. How much harder is it going from
1 to 2 children when they are close in age versus
when they are 3 or 4 years apart? We've heard so
many conflicting arguments for both sides and we
can't make up our minds. We just want to do what's
best for our kids. Can you give us some wisdom?
See Hal's
response.

Our partner this week is:
Moms on
Call
Laura Hunter, LPN, and Jennifer Walker, RN BSN,
work
as on-call nurses for a busy pediatric practice in
Atlanta, Georgia and noticed that many parents who
called in shared similar questions and worries.
Together, they created Moms on Call, a
resource for parents that's like having two
approachable nurses on the other end of the phone.
Check them out for a healthy dose of comfort and
expertise when it comes to raising your baby. These
moms won't steer you wrong.
